HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I'm finally back in good old corn town and surprisingly, there is no snow in sight! The weather is warmer than expected and it's like I've never left San Francisco at all. Oh well, what will come will come eventually. Moving on...
This is officially my first post for 2012 and it's just a continuation from
the previous post. I have decided long time ago to never leave things undone. That means anything that says part 1 must have at least a part 2.
So here goes...
I had a great Christmas dinner although there was so much drama going on the whole time I was there. Since the drama isn't the main focus of this post, I shall not go there.
This year, I was lucky to have celebrated Thanksgiving with an American family and got to experience the true American traditions and savoured traditional dishes in an American country home. Christmas, like Thanksgiving, is one of the biggest holidays in America and it is unquestionably a great idea to celebrate it with an American family since that would give me an opportunity to be personally involved in preparing wondrous array of food.
So instead of writing about what I ate that day, I will just let the pictures do the talking.
One of my favourite appetizers on Christmas day! Cheese spread with taco seasoning mix sandwiched between french bread and cucumber with parsley on top.
Green bean casserole~ A holiday dish for Thanksgiving too!
~~Baked sweet potatoes with marshmallows ~~
Shredded turkey, shrimp and so on.
~~My splendid Christmas dinner plate~~
~All smiles ~
We had so much food that lasted us for another few more days. The rest of the day was followed by Christmas presents unwrapping moment, eating, resting, eating, watching football & NBA on tv, more eating and sleeping.
All in all, it was a lazy day. I sorta miss the 'visiting' part of Christmas in Malaysia. I used to visit my relatives and friends who celebrate Christmas and it's kinda sad that I haven't been doing that for more than 5-6 years now due to me being away from home all these while.
Sadder still, I will be missing another holiday- Chinese New Year, which is my favourite holidays of all times. There will be another year before I can celebrate CNY again with my dear family and friends...I could only wait longingly for the time to pass.....
